about me

Who is Eric Wright?

I currently hold the role of Systems Architect and have been in technology for nearly 20 years. I specialize in VMware virtualization, Microsoft Active Directory, PowerShell and supporting a wide range of server deployments. I have focused on BCP/DR design for over 10 years at an enterprise level.

My certifications are about to include VCP5 (cross your fingers!!) and I have held MCSE, CCNA, MCP and Novell CNA designations.

Presentations and Community Participation

As an active VMUG member, I have given presentations on everything from PowerCLI, PowerShell, Automation to BCP Design. It is my goal to attend community driven sessions in various technologies to learn, contribute and to add value and share my knowledge and experience. Through my current employer I also contribute to the NOREX forums speaking on server virtualization and VDI as well as general forums held in the Toronto area.

What is a DiscoPosse?

There have been a few thoughts on the origin of the name DiscoPosse. Some might say it is because of the nickname for the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling team who were sometimes referred to as the Disco Posse. Despite an obvious link to my love of cycling, the truth is that this is the proposed name for a band I was putting together some years ago.

From there it became my most often used name for various site registrations. It’s a little tiring when I keep having to use names like ewright28988 so what better than 2 completely unrelated words that meant something only to me.

It’s about life and technology. It’s about nothing in particular. If you like it, then comment and let me know. If you don’t like it, then comment and let me know. Either way, drop by read, enjoy and say hello!

My primary love (outside of the very important people close to me in my life) is technology. It pays my bills. I also enjoy it outside of work which frightens some people. Secondary to that I am an avid cyclist, guitarist and a collector of generally useless knowledge.
